MORE CLAVES - CALVES - HA

MILK-MILK-MILK    -  LOTS OF MILK.  I may have to sell one of my cowgirls if I can't find more milk drinkers.  Libby just had a beautiful bull calf and is doing very well. This is Wild Bill ( the tan one ) Rosie's calf and Flash is Willow's calf.  I need to sell these two steers to a farm that has lots of grass to raise them out to 900 lbs. for beef.  We named Libby's calf Gordan. Get it Flash Gordan.  I hope to be able to get you pictures of Gordan soon.

THE COWS HAVE CLAVED

Both Rose and Willow calved beautiful bull calves.  I hope to post some pictures soon of the two calves.  We now have lots of fresh milk available.  Please e-mail brooklinjerseys@yahoo.com if you are in my area of KY and would like some fresh milk and visit me and my cow girls.

SPRING CALVING
   On Feb. 17th Rosie, the two year old heifer, is do to calve for the first time.  Rosie is Willow's daughter and momma Willow is also due to calve Feb. 21st.  We are all looking forward to the new babies and the fresh milk.

Publishing Milk Quality Standards

With the help of a young friend I was able to get the Animal Welfare Approved and Kentucky Proud logos' on my blog sight.  What I am real happy about is publishing a certified raw milk standard for the milk sold from Brook-Lin Jerseys.  To my knowledge no one in Ky has established or published a list of standards for the quality of milk being sold privately at their farms.  This is a big step and one I feel is right to do at this time to "raise the bar" on the quality of fresh milk being sold at the farms.

Kentucky Proud Certified Fresh Milk

Well it has been a while but we are all doing great.  Hot and dry - wishing for rain.  The new projects at Brook-Lin Jerseys' is applying for the Kentucky Proud program and working on a certification program for the sale of fresh milk.

Time For Change

In Frankfort our goverment leaders are meeting to hopefully make healthy living in Kentucky an even greater experience.  One area they are discussing is the issue of Farm Food Freedom - FFFKy.org - that will allow consumers to legally purchase food products directly from the farmer.  You would think you already have that right, but not so.  I can not sell my cows' beautiful, fresh, healthy Jersey milk to anyone who may want raw milk.  If Kentucky were to pass a Farm Food Freedom bill  then my farm along with many struggling family farms in Kentucky will be able to stay farming. Maybe even bring back the the number of family farms and dairy's that Kentucky once had.  These farms create the food for Buy Local / Buy Fresh that we need for safe, and healthy food.  Please show your support by contacting FFFKy.org or Farm Food Freedom Coalition - FFFC.org .  Thank You.
